My Husband, The A-Hole
Dan is really great at telling me why something won't work. Every brilliant idea I have ever had for any remodeling/redecorating project or another is met with a list of obstacles that I must first overcome to achieve the desired results. This makes him kind of an A-hole, to me any way. I don't think this is coming from a place of hate and discontent, rather, a place of reason. Most of the time, he is right. I can't believe I wrote those words, because, ya know, things on the Internet are FOREVER, and like a naked selfie, I am sure they will come back to haunt me.
I don't think I have mentioned this before, but we are cash poor. Typical, middle class, we spend more than we make and have outrageous debt, poor. It's a sad cycle that we are currently working to break, but you kind of have to work with what ya got in the moment, and at the moment, we are paying for years of keeping up with the Jones' mistakes. Hug me. Okay, moving on.
Due to our lack of funds, when things start to fall apart around the house, I come up with these great ideas for remodeling on a budget. Most recently, our white laminate cabinets have started to peel. It's really embarrassing, mostly because I have used clear packing tape to adhere the peeling laminate back to the particle board. I had this amazing idea, that instead of purchasing new cabinets with the money we don't have, why not put a little sweat equity into our still have good bones cabinets. It's a really brilliant idea right? RIGHT!?
Well, let me just tell you, even though already peeling laminate its very easy to remove from it's particle board base, non peeling laminate is like removing five layers of wallpaper, covered with soap scum, Gorilla Glued to tar. It is not fun, or easy. I am pretty sure Dan mentioned this prior to beginning the project. I chose to ignore it, because I am an idiot, in additional to the fact that I am always right. Usually. Most of the time. Okay, sporadically.
Listen, I love you honey, but you're kind of an A-hole, even if you are right, like, 50% of the time.
